A Bradenton, Florida +55 community contacted the Dragonfly Pond Works Florida shoreline restoration specialists to assess their popular, centrally located lake. The community had previously taken steps to try to protect their valued shoreline from continued erosion. Unfortunately, the plan did not work as intended. The Dragonfly team recommended utilizing our low-impact, long-lasting shoreline restoration through pump dredging to restore their beautiful lake.

Block wall was installed by community to protect shoreline, however water seeped through the cracks and erosion continued.

Cement blocks had been installed along the shoreline as an attempt to protect the lake from additional erosion. Unfortunately, water was able to seep through the cracks and erosion continued. The DPW Team started with removing all of the cement blocks.

Next, the DPW Florida shoreline restoration specialist secured Geobags to the shoreline. Geobags are made of a Geotextile material that keeps dredged sediment inside. The material allows water to drain back into the lake. The sediment, which has been dredged directly from the bottom of the lake, will be used to restore the eroded shoreline.

Florida Shoreline Restoration: Lightweight Dredging Machine

Our lightweight, low-impact dredging machine is easily launched from the shoreline. It can be launched in small areas that are more difficult to access and minimizes any impact to the surrounding area. The low-impact machine is ideal for golf courses and HOA's. Nutrient rich material is pumped by the dredge from the lake bottom directly into the Geobags secured along the shoreline.

The Geobag has been filled with dredged material and split open.

The DPW crew fills two stacked Geobags. The bottom bag remains filled, as an anchor bag, to protect against future erosion. Once the material in the top bag dries, the bag is split open. The dredged material is then graded to a safe and natural slope.

Matting and sod is secured over the graded material.
