The Hub Farm-Durham Public Schools

The Hub Farm is part of the Durham Public Schools system. The Hub is a 30-acre property that offers staff and students a chance to explore nature, grow food, and take part in a variety of hands-on learning experiences. We recently visited The Hub and will be becoming more involved with the project in the coming months.

Walking the grounds, we found gardens in which students are involved in growing and harvesting the food. There was also a wash station and picnic tables situated on the edge of a large pond. The pond also hosts a "floating lab". The lab was designed by students in the NC State College of Design and is a unique and very useful asset. Classes can be held on the lab and there is also a panel on the floor that lifts up for easy water access for testing, sampling, etc.

This is a continually evolving project and it is really excited to see all of the big plans on the horizon. In May, we will be holding a client appreciation day.
